Pilgrimage and Artworks

Start: Saturday, October 04, 202508:45 AM

The Season of Creation is a celebration where we are called as a global Christian family to unite, listen and care for our common home. This year’s theme is, “Peace with Creation” and the symbol is the dove carrying an olive branch bringing life to the Garden of Peace. Through prayer, practical advocacy, and sustainable actions, we can renew our commitment to care for our common home. We are invited to bring peace on earth through our care for creation, for all people, all creatures and the environment.

The Catholic Church has proclaimed 2025 a Jubilee Year and invites us to be “Pilgrims of Hope.” You are invited to make a small pilgrimage walking from Confluence Park, crossing the San Antonio River, and continuing to the World Heritage Site, Mission Concepcion, and the Padre Margil Center where there is an exhibit of art about creation made by students of the Brainpower schools. Confluence Park gives wonderful opportunities to learn about nature in this area. We will both pray to thank the Creator, and we will learn as we see aspects of creation.

Mission Concepcion is an official pilgrimage site of the Archdiocese of San Antonio where special graces are given to those who visit the site and perform the requirements given by the church.

Please wear comfortable walking shoes and bring water. The walk is only .9 miles and all is flat paved pathway with no steps. Strollers welcome! Please arrive at Confluence Park, 310 W Mitchell St, San Antonio, TX 78204, at 8:50 am to be ready. Those who do not wish to walk can drive five minutes to Mission Concepcion and the Padre Margil Pilgrimage Center.
