Bristol Green Party's monthly Policy and Ideas Meeting!
As we go into a year with some of the most important elections in the history of Bristol Green Party, it seemed appropriate to hear from some Greens who are running their local councils. This month we have some brilliant guest speakers.
Councillor Bridget Petty
Bridget was elected as Green Party Councillor for Backwell in North Somerset in 2019 - the election year that saw the Conservative administration in North Somerset end, and a new alliance of Greens, Liberal Democrats, Labour and Independents take over the running of the council. Bridget is now Leader of the North Somerset Green Party Council Group, and Cabinet Member for Waste and Recycling.
Councillor Catherine Braun
Catherine was elected in May 2016 to represent Wotton-under-Edge, North Nibley and Stinchcombe in Stroud, where the Green Councillors currently run the district council in an alliance with Labour and the Liberal Democrats. She is a member of the Housing Committee and is involved in many other district and local issues including work to reduce single use plastic, engaging with young people and supporting the Wotton, Charfield and Kingswood Greenway Group which is working to develop a new traffic-free route for walkers and cyclists.
Afterwards, we'll be joined by Bristol Action on Climate Emergency (ACE) for a look back at how things changed in 2020, and ambitions for 2021.
There will also be the latest updates from the Bristol Council Group and the Mayoral Campaign. So join us at Policy and Ideas on Wednesday the 4th of January. All Green Party members welcome!
