Join us as we kick off our first political education series, where we dissect and discuss all things socialism! Literature, movies, music, movements, and ideas... everything is on the table. Here's a statement from our M.C. for the afternoon on what to expect:

"We will read the first two chapters of the Manifesto. The first chapter, “Bourgeois and
Proletarians,” summarizes the Marxist understanding of class and history. The second
chapter, “Proletarians and Communists,” discusses the relationship between the
socialist movement and the workers’ movement.
The Manifesto describes utopian socialism as the first modern socialism and refers to it
in several passages. But Engels’s 1880 book Socialism: Utopian and Scientific has a
clearer exposition of the connection between Marxism and utopian socialism. We will
read one chapter from it.
The readings are 29 pages in total. Read what you can of them. Please join the
discussion whatever you’ve been able to read. We’ll summarize each reading to
introduce the discussion."
