Postcards for Joaquín Beltrán for Congress
Start: 2024-02-23 19:00:00 UTC Eastern Standard Time (US & Canada) (GMT-05:00)
This is a virtual event
Thank you for writing with us to help get word out about Joaquín Beltrán and his 2024 campaign! ✍
We can help Joaquín in his grassroots campaign this week by hand writing postcards to voters in District 42. These postcards let voters know what Joaquín is about, how to vote for him, and why they should make the effort to vote. Studies show that handwritten letters and postcards, not printed-out form letters, have the most impact on voters. The personal connection matters!
The Joaquín Beltrán campaign provides the voter addresses from the latest data available. Volunteers need to supply their own postcards, pens, and postcard stamps. When you RSVP please indicate how many postcards you think you can do and we will provide voter addresses
You can buy your own blank or picture postcards, or even print your own on thick paper. You can buy 53- cent postcard stamps on USPS.com (53 cents is the current First-Class postage rate for postcards that meet the size and thickness requirements of the USPS).

You can buy blank postcards on Amazon, voter-themed postcards on Etsy, and of course any other type of postcard as long as it’s uplifting and encouraging.
**This event is being officially coordinated by the committee Joaquin Beltran for Congress 2024. Any postcards/stamps that volunteers buy on their own are required to be considered in-kind donations and are the reason for the form fields as required by the Federal Elections Commission (similar to required fields in ActBlue). Thank you.**
Here are the rules for writing:
Please handwrite legibly your postcards’ messages and addresses. Colorful pens are optional but fun!
Use cards that are inclusive. Buy, print, or make postcards with images and/or slogans that areappropriate for a wide audience of recipients—the more uplifting and optimistic the better.
Mail completed postcards ASAP. No need to gather them as a batch. Just send them!
Only sign your first name or initials. Never add your return address, your own email address, your last name, or your social media handle. Alternatively you can sign “a volunteer” to be completely anonymous.
Only write to each voter once. Do not contact the voters again and shred your list of voter addresses after you’re finished writing.
Cover names and addresses if you take photos for social media. If you show digital pics of your postcards (a great way to inspire others to join in), always cover voters' addresses for their privacy. Sharing on social media can inspire others to join us!
Cards should be written by hand, not printed out. This is a grassroots campaign for Joaquín Beltrán so it’s important to keep the cards personally crafted.
Stick to the script and make sure to spell Joaquín Beltrán’s name correctly. This is especially important when writing out the campaign website’s URL and “Paid for by Joaquin Beltran for Congress 2024“ which needs to be written on the bottom of each card.
Ask any questions you may have.
Have a great time! Go, Joaquín!
✨Essential info to include in each postcard✨
1) Joaquín Beltrán’s name, 2) the website URL, 3) that they can start voting as soon as they receive their ballot in the mail on Feb 5th, and 4) to vote by Election Day March 5th. 5) Somewhere on the card include the line “Paid for by Joaquín Beltrán for Congress 2024.” This is in compliance with campaign finance rules.
