It's time to join forces NOW, and speak out together to call on New York Gov. Kathy Hochul to sign the "Local Input for Community Healthcare Act" into law!

Join state legislators, health care advocates and unions, and local community activists on Mon. Dec. 9th at 1:30 p.m. for a press conference on the third floor of the historic Million Dollar Staircase in New York's State Capitol. (Speakers to be confirmed and announced.)

Last spring, this bill (S.8843A / A.1633B, Rivera / Simon) passed the New York State Legislature by strong bipartisan margins! It now awaits Governor Hochul’s signature before the end of next week (Fri. Dec. 13th.)  

This bill will:

• improve public notice and community involvement when hospitals seek to close entirely or shut down key units like maternity, emergency rooms,  mental health services, and addiction treatment.
• strengthen government oversight of proposed closures.
• ensure that a Health Equity Impact Assessment is done, to inform the community and state leaders and regulators.
