Join us to protest the Preakness Stakes (the second leg of the Triple Crown) at Pimlico Race Track.
27 horses were killed at Maryland tracks in 2024.
Since 2014, 397 horses have died at Maryland tracks, and taxpayers are paying for it!
The horseracing industry in Maryland receives $95 Million in taxpayer subsidies each year. Without these subsidies horseracing simply cannot support itself.
And to make matters worse, the state has handed over $500 million (more taxpayer money) to rebuild Pimlico Race Course with hope that this upgrade will entice more people to support this cruel industry. Taxpayers are unknowingly paying for the continued abuse and killing of innocent horses.
We cannot be silent!
Horseracing Kills Horses At All Tracks:
Through its seminal FOIA reporting, Horseracing Wrongs has documented over 11,000 deaths at U.S. tracks since 2014; its research shows that some 2,000 "racehorses" are killed across America every year. Aortic rupture, pulmonary hemorrhage, blunt-force head trauma, broken necks, severed spines, ruptured ligaments, shattered legs. 2,000 - that's about six every single day.
Horseracing Is Animal Cruelty:
Horses are confined to 12x12 stalls for 23 hours a day and controlled by painful lip chains, tongue ties, and metal bits. They are whipped to run faster, suffer agonizing injuries, drugged without consent, and bought and sold multiple times throughout their short lives—all for gambling and entertainment.
Join us to be their voice!
This event is rain or shine.
Signs and materials will be provided.
Bring a friend and let’s get LOUD for the horses!
