Public Forum: The Future of Flagstaff’s Hospital

Start: Wednesday, October 29, 202506:00 PM

Location:McGee Auditorium, 1200 N. Beaver St., Flagstaff, AZ 86001 US

Northern Arizona Healthcare (NAH) is considering relocating the hospital once again—but nowhere in their outreach is the carbon footprint of this massive development being discussed. Relocating the hospital would come with major environmental and community impacts, while renovating the current campus would cost less, preserve existing medical infrastructure, and produce only about one-third the carbon emissions of new construction.

Keeping the hospital in its central location—surrounded by other medical offices and accessible by four major roads—would also help maintain Flagstaff’s compact city layout and support our goal of Net Zero emissions by 2030. NAH can follow the lead of climate-conscious hospitals like Dell Children’s Medical Center (LEED Platinum) and Seattle Children’s Hospital (LEED Gold).

Join us to tell NAH that sustainability matters. Urge them to renovate rather than relocate—and to commit to an all-electric, low-carbon future for Flagstaff’s healthcare.
