JOIN US TO HEAR DIRECTLY FROM STANDING TOGETHER ACTIVISTS ABOUT THE STRUGGLE AGAINST WAR AND OCCUPATION, AND FOR PEACE AND EQUALITY IN ISRAEL-PALESTINE

7-8:30pm, Tuesday 17 September
London Islamic Cultural Centre, 389-395 Wightman Road, London N8 0NA (nr. Turnpike Lane station)

Standing Together is a grassroots social movement organising both Palestinian and Jewish citizens of Israel to build shared struggles towards equality. Since 7 October, they have been at the forefront of anti-war protests in Israel, organising direct action to demand a ceasefire and hostage-release agreement. They also organised a Humanitarian Guard which successfully confronted far-right settler groups which had been attacking aid convoys destined for Gaza. They are currently working with aid agencies to conduct their own donation drives in response to the mounting humanitarian crisis in Gaza.

UK Friends of Standing Together (UKFoST) is a UK-based network which works to raise awareness and build practical support, including via fundraising, for Standing Together’s work. This meeting, which is hosted by the London chapter of UKFoST, will hear from both Palestinian and Jewish Standing Together leaders, via Zoom, who will give a presentation on the movement’s work and the latest situation on the ground.

We are also delighted to welcome, in person, Lana Ikelan. Lana is a 24-year-old Arab-Palestinian journalist and peace activist from East Jerusalem. She currently works for Standing Together as a social media content creator. She has previously worked with the environmental NGO EcoPeace. Lana will also share her perspective on the fight for peace and equality in Israel-Palestine.

The meeting will consist of an introduction from UK Friends of Standing Together, followed by presentations from our speakers, with an opportunity for questions and discussion. We welcome discussion and debate, but please keep all questions and comments respectful. Sis. Bibi Khan will also say a few words on behalf of ours hosts at the London Islamic Cultural Society.

Attendees are requested to remove their shoes before entering the hall.
