Amherst Regional Middle School Parking Lot
(please park at Amherst Regional High School and Wildwood, not at the Middle School) Comrades, answer the solidarity call! Amherst Pelham Education Association is holding a rally to build on their growing campaign for a fair contract for all educators. The last rally was electric with rank and file speakers, along with MTA leadership, addressing a very large group of fellow workers and union members, parents, students, and community supporters. We went inside the school and filled the halls with our voices, making sure the school committee heard us! RVDSA has shown consistent solidarity with our comrades in the APEA in their struggle for a strong and fair contract that reflects their dedication and hard work. Let’s continue to show our solidarity with a big contingent on Tuesday! Wear RED, Bring Signs , Energy, and Friends
This is an RSVP form for DSA members to let our labor committee how many people are able to come to this event and so we may send a reminder. Non-DSA members don't need to use this form to RSVP, you can just come! But by RSVPing we'll send an email reminder before the event.
Background on the issue:
Investment in Educators is an Investment in this Community
For several years, Amherst School district cost-of-living raises have not kept up with inflation rates and rising costs of health care. Over time, demands on educators have risen. The profession is more intense than it has ever been. The country is facing a teacher shortage. The district cannot staff paraeducator, clerical and teaching positions. Turnover is high. This instability is not good for our children.
This community prides itself on its educational values and high standards, which reflect in home values. Because of educator expertise, students enjoy a wide range of opportunities that help them achieve their dreams.
Investment in the educators of this district is an investment in this community. We should not shortchange our students.
