STOP THE BLEEDING: don't cut UMC
Start: Tuesday, May 28, 2019• 9:00 AM
On May 14, 2019 the DC Council voted to severely limit the care and services that will be available at United Medical Center, the only hospital east of the Anacostia River. The Council cut $25 million in funding intended for the hospital from the proposed budget, and capped the DC subsidy at $15 million in all future years. If the current hospital leadership is unable to create a budget within those means by July 31, they will be replaced with a control board.
Rapid action is needed. This dangerous action will become law if we don't reverse it on May 28
