It's time to turn up and tell City Council, "NO Data Centers in Oakland!"
- 2:30 pm: Rally outside City Hall
- 3:15 pm: Sign-up for public comment in Council Chambers - SUPPORT Agenda Item 6.15
If you arrive after 3:30 pm when the Council meeting starts, you may not be able to give public comment.
We need to support Councilmember Fife's Ordinance for a 45-day Moratorium on Data Centers. This is an important first step towards an outright ban.
The rapid deployment of data centers driven by the generative AI boom is a great threat to communities across the country, especially Oakland, which already faces industrial and commercial pollution that disproportionately impacts lower income and BIPOC residents. Without immediate action, an AI data center in Oakland could guzzle water unsustainably, keep fossil fuels online, drive more pollution, and raise your PG&E bills.
