Show Up August 18: Tell Virginia Lawmakers to Stop the NextEra Merger

On August 18, Virginia's Energy Commission meets to examine state oversight of public utility mergers, including NextEra's $67 billion takeover of Dominion Energy. Lawmakers on this commission will decide how closely Virginia scrutinizes this deal.

We're rallying beforehand. Lawmakers need to walk into that room knowing Virginians are watching.

Why this matters:

NextEra is a Florida-based company with a track record of failed and troubled utility deals in Hawaii, Texas, Florida, and South Carolina. Now they want Virginia's largest utility.

Bigger monopoly. Bigger bills. That's the deal on the table.

If this merger goes through, one company controls more of Virginia's energy future than ever before. Families could see higher costs, less accountability, and a utility answering to Wall Street instead of Virginia customers.

What we're asking:

Block the merger. No conditions. No shortcuts.

Show up on August 18:

Rally at noon at Richmond City Hall, 900 E Broad St, right across the street from the meeting. Join us to make sure every lawmaker in that room hears from the people who'll pay the price if this deal goes through.

RSVP below to confirm you're coming. Bring a friend, a neighbor, anyone who doesn't want a bigger monopoly setting their power bill.
