Mayor Muriel Bowser has introduced the RENTAL Act. This bill would disempower tenants who are already economically at-risk and gut protections that have been vital in preventing the abrupt displacement of our neighbors from their communities. Mayor Bowser's RENTAL Act would further decimate the rights guaranteed to Washingtoninans by the Tenant Opportunity to Purchase Act (TOPA), stripping these rights from huge swaths of tenants in both new developments and covenanted affordable housing throughout the District.
