Before Lt. Gov. Hashmi’s Energy Costs Town Hall

Join us at 5:00 PM outside the Jefferson School, African American Heritage Center in Charlottesville, VA as we tell the State Corporation Commission and Virginia’s elected officials: Oppose NextEra’s $67 billion takeover of Dominion Energy.

Hear directly from Virginians affected by rising energy costs, learn what this takeover could mean for your power bill, and join our call for the SCC to hold in-person hearings before making one of the biggest energy decisions in Virginia’s history.

NextEra isn’t hiding why it wants Dominion. Its own CEO has called this “America’s golden age of power demand,” driven by data centers, and the company plans to build the gas pipelines and power plants to feed that growth.

If the deal goes through, the company making major decisions about how much data center growth Virginia absorbs, and who pays for it, will be headquartered in Florida, not Richmond. Virginia families could be left covering the infrastructure costs while a bigger, more distant monopoly cashes in on the data center boom.

After the rally, we’ll head inside together for Lt. Gov. Ghazala Hashmi’s Energy Costs Listening Tour, a conversation with local elected officials and energy experts about what the Dominion-NextEra deal could mean for utility bills, grid reliability, and communities across the Commonwealth.
