Rana Plaza 2 Years On – Long Road to Justice Walking Tour.

Join us on the eve of the 2nd anniversary of the Rana Plaza Disaster as we tour the high street brands behind fashions’ dirty secret.

Organised by: Labour Behind the Label & War on Want

Supported by: Fashion Revolution, Rainbow Collective, The Brick Lane Debates , Potent Whisper, TRAID & Traidcraft ; Unite [London & Eastern Region].

On 24th April 2013, over 1100 people were killed and 2500 injured when the Rana Plaza building collapsed in Bangladesh. The building housed Factories making clothes for Benetton, Primark, Matalan, Mango, and other major brands supplying clothes for the UK high street.

In the wake of the worst disaster in the history of the garment industry, millions of people took action around the globe to demand justice for the victims, to hold the brands accountable and to ensure that it would never happen again.

Whilst some progress has been made, the garment workers of Bangladesh continue to need our support and solidarity as the world’s attention moves elsewhere.

• Come and hear about the UK high street brands who are undermining attempts to make Bangladesh’s factories safe.

• Meet the retailers who’ve dragged their feet to pay the victims compensation.
• Understand about the worldwide fight for a living wage to ensure workers can live with dignity.

• Be inspired by the struggles of workers to demand their rights.

• Learn how an industry resting on women’s shoulders fails to respect women’s rights.

Garment workers have a long road to justice – ours will be a short walking tour to remember the victims and demand accountability.

No-one should live in poverty for the price of a cheap t-shirt.  Together we can demand a fashion industry that respects the rights of workers everywhere!
