Join Capital District DSA in celebrating Juneteenth and the 250th anniversary of the United States by reading Gerald Horne's The Counter-Revolution of 1776: Slave Resistance and the Origins of the United States of America. This text examines the links between the American Revolution and the desire among American colonists to preserve slavery, challenging the traditional heroic creation myth of the United States.
This is Week 2 of 3 of this reading group. Readings for this discussion are:
Chapter 4. Building a “White” Pro-Slavery Wall: The Construction of Georgia 88-109
Chapter 5. The Stono Uprising: Will the Africans Become Masters and the Europeans Slaves? 110-135
Chapter 7. The Biggest Losers: Africans and the Seven Years’ War 161-183
Please reach out to CDDSA at info@capitaldistrictdsa.org if you need assistance obtaining a copy of the readings!
