Ready to Represent (Session 2) — Unlocking local democracy to serve our communities
Join us for the final session of Ready to Represent, a tailored three-part local government training series designed for Portsmouth Green Party members.
Led by former Labour Councillor Judith Smyth, this series offers a practical look into how Portsmouth City Council operates from the inside out. Whether you are considering standing for election in the future, helping us coordinate local campaigns, or simply looking to understand local governance so we can drive meaningful community change, this workshop series is for you!
Session 3
The 90-minute session is interactive and collaborative. Session 2 continues to build on our understanding of local democracy and governance.
What to expect:
- Expert Insights: Learning directly from real-world council experience on how local government mechanics, committees, and decision-making work in practice.
- Interactive Discussion: Open Q&A and group discussions exploring how local issues move through council structures and how progressive voices can shape policy.
- Practical Application: Collaborative exercises and case studies focused on translating governance knowledge into effective ward-level campaigning and community advocacy.
