Remembering Superstorm Sandy: Rally to Build Back Better!
Start: Friday, October 29, 2021•04:00 PM

On October 29, 2012, Hurricane Sandy devastated Long Island. The superstorm destroyed homes and vehicles, felled trees, and caused widespread power outages and flooding. When the clouds parted and the dust settled, we were left with billions of dollars in damages. Long Island is still rebuilding.
Hurricane Sandy and all the big storms since then are stark reminders about the worsening climate crisis. To withstand the next major weather event, we need big and bold investments in climate, jobs, care and justice. We need to tax the rich, build affordable housing and open a pathway to citizenship.
All of those items were included in the Build Back Better package and infrastructure legislation. But large corporations and the ultra-wealthy are fighting hard to kill these transformative proposals.
Join us Friday, October 29 at 4 p.m. in Long Beach to demand that our members of Congress, especially Reps. Kathleen Rice and Tom Suozzi, hold the line on these important pieces of legislation!
