Save the date for our March Mobilization to demand that the NYS Legislature pass the NY HEAT Act in the budget for cleaner heat and lower bills! Tell your reps that climate action and energy affordability can't wait!
The NY HEAT Act is a critical state-level bill that would fight climate change by transitioning our buildings from fossil fuels to clean heating and cooling technology like heat pumps. It would also end subsidies for new pipelines and lower our utility bills to 6% of our income - it's a win-win for people and planet! We'll also be advocating for the GAP Fund to fund much-needed housing repairs for renters and homeowners including lead remediation, energy efficiency, and more to make our homes green and healthy.
But, for our reps to feel the pressure they need to stand up to the fossil fuel industry, we need YOU to join us for this rally and advocacy day in Albany! No prior advocacy experience is needed, just a desire to share a short story about why you want climate action, healthy and safe housing, and lower utility bills.
Agenda for the Day (this is subject to change as we get closer to the date):
10:30-11:00 Check-in and grab lunch at the Food Court off the Concourse
11:00-11:30 Meet with teams and eat lunch
11:30-12:00 Go through security
12:30-1:30 Rally on the Million Dollar Staircase
1:30-2:00 Line the halls
