Rise for Climate, Jobs, and Justice
Start: Saturday, September 08, 2018• 9:00 AM
End: Saturday, September 08, 2018•12:00 PM
On September 8, thousands of rallies will be held in cities and towns around the world to demand our local leaders commit to building a fossil free world that works for all of us. OFA Central Midlands, 350 Columbia, Carolina Peace Resource Center, Sierra Club Ready for 100, Simple Justice Black Lives Matter and other partners and supporting groups and individuals invite you to join in this action!
Join us at the S.C. State House as we rally to educate and inspire attendees and call them, ourselves and others to action. Our goal is to hold local and state legislators and other leaders to accountability, to acknowledge the impact of climate change on marginalized communities and all of us and to walk the talk on climate change. Our Keynote Speaker, Queen Quet, Chieftess of the Gullah Geechee Nation, will be joined by other presenters including Pastor Chuck Rhodes and leaders of our Partner climate and justice organizations. Musicians include Kevin McKinney, The Dubber, Wombat Junction and The Disquet. Bring your children to our craft table! Register to vote! Participate in a teach-in. We are proud of our Columbia Mayor and City Council who have voted to support 100 percent renewable energy. We demand others follow their example. Join our amazing speakers, musicians, activists and actions, as we celebrate and recommit to bringing justice and healing to our state, nation and the earth.
