The Sacramento Democratic Socialists of America are hosting weekly canvasses to elect Mai Vang to Congress — and we need you with us.
This race is a clear choice between grassroots, working-class leadership and politics as usual. Mai Vang is a Sacramento Council member, the daughter of Hmong refugees, and a community organizer who has put working families first and refused corporate PAC money. She has been rooted in movements for justice — from fighting to abolish ICE to demanding an end to the genocide in Gaza — and has always shown up for our communities.
Her opponent is a millionaire, corporate-funded politician who doesn’t hold town halls and is more accountable to donors than constituents. At a time when Trumpism and mass deportation policies are resurging, we can’t afford “business as usual.” We need someone principled and courageous — someone equipped to fight for our communities, not corporate interests.
They’ll try to paint Mai as “too radical” or “inexperienced.” But what they call radical, we call necessary: putting working families first, rejecting corporate money, and organizing for real change. And what they call inexperience is actually independence from the political establishment.
This is a pivotal moment. The stakes are high, and the margin will be won by who shows up. Every door we knock, every voter conversation we have, brings us closer to sending a real working-class champion to Congress.
