Safe Streets, Strong SF Rally at City Hall
Start: Tuesday, April 29, 2025•12:00 PM
Join Supervisor Melgar and Safe Streets advocates for a rally at City Hall to demand urgent action on street safety from San Francisco's leaders.
Every year, dozens of people die and hundreds more are sent to the hospital with severe injuries caused by traffic crashes. A new City report shows that not only do these crashes take an immeasurable emotional toll on the families affected, this crisis is also costing San Francisco over $500 million every year—a hidden tax we all pay because our streets are still too dangerous.
These crashes are not accidents. They’re the result of streets that weren’t designed with safety in mind, and they are preventable. Our kids, families, and communities all bear this cost—in lives lost, injuries suffered, and dollars drained from our public budget.
At this rally, we’ll call on City leaders to act with the urgency this crisis demands. We know what works: quick-build safety projects reduce crashes by 30%, yet too many are delayed by bureaucracy and politics. It’s time to stop accepting traffic violence as normal. Bring your signs, your strollers, and your voices—because every family deserves safe streets, and we can’t afford to wait.
