You are cordially invited to the first forum of the Savannah Affordable Housing Coalition.

You're receiving this invitation because you are already supporting or have expressed interested in supporting the Yamacraw Village Resident Council (YVRC) as they push to get their list of demands met by the Housing Authority of Savannah (HAS) and renew their historically Black community.

While the primary focus of this coalition will at first be supporting Yamacraw Village, the longterm goal is to strategically expand the coalition's work to push for TRULY affordable housing across Savannah, which has recently been named among the 20 least affordable cities for renters in the US. According to research by CashNetUSA, only 9.52% of available rental properties in Savannah are priced below the 30% income benchmark set by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD).

Please note, this Forum, while initially organized by members of the Housing Working Group of the Democratic Socialists of America (DSA), will hold no authority over any participating organization or individual or to delegate any task to such participants, and shall exist solely to facilitate communication, coordination, shared problem-solving, and mutual support on a voluntary basis. This Forum shall not be a formal voting body, except for initial consensus votes to agree upon the basic structure of the Forum.
