May 22: NY Assembly Stop Stalling on Climate: Pass NY HEAT

Start: Wednesday, May 22, 202411:00 AM

End: Wednesday, May 22, 2024 4:00 PM

Just a few weeks left in the Legislative Session! We need to flex our people power and make sure the Assembly doesn't go home without passing the NY HEAT Act!

Join the Renewable Heat Now Campaign and the NY Renews Campaign on May 22 in Albany for a day of advocacy.

Join advocates from the Renewable Heat Now and NY Renews campaigns for a rally and press conference urging the Assembly to pass the NY HEAT Act! This is part of the week of action for Climate, Jobs and Justice sponsored by NY Renews.

The NY HEAT Act aligns utility law with New York’s climate law and protects consumers. It has 76 Assembly sponsors, has support from Governor Hochul, and has passed the State Senate. The Assembly must pass this crucial legislation before the end of session to address the worsening climate crisis and reduce utility bills.

For those of us who love a good map, here are three:

- a helpful Empire State Plaza Visitor Parking map for folks driving into Albany. MVP Lot frequently has openings when other

- an excellent map of the Empire State Plaza and Concourse and

- a great map of the NY State Capitol.

Remember to bring:
Comfortable shoes, a reusable water bottle, snacks, a Renewable Heat Now or NY Renews t-shirt if you have one, medicine and mobility aids if needed, a pen, and face masks are encouraged. Please travel light this time as it will be a very warm day and we do not have a space to store bags or coats. Definitely bring water.

COVID safety:
Please take a rapid COVID test the night before or the morning of the 22nd and stay home if you are not feeling well. Masks are recommended. Masks will be available on the buses and at check-in. We highly suggest masking. Some legislators have a mask requirement for visitors. Let’s mask to keep each other healthy; we have a lot of work ahead of us!
