Saving our Elections Header

The threats to the Fall 2026 elections are real—from the potential cancellation of elections to the presence of ICE at polling places. The Free Washington Project and Standing for Democracy are hosting Saving Our Elections to spark a statewide conversation about strategies for resistance.

This webinar will explore two key questions:
  1. What threats does the Trump Administration currently pose to our elections?
  2. How can we organize to protect our vote against to these threats here in Washington State?
Confirmed speakers include:
  • Bill Fletcher Jr. is a longtime trade unionist, international solidarity activist and writer of fiction and nonfiction. He is a cofounder and executive board member of Standing for Democracy.
  • Charles Douglass III is the Executive Director of Common Power, where he leads the organization in focusing on direct election impacts and education as an on-ramp to civic engagement.
  • Steven Hobbs became Washington's Secretary of State in 2021. Prior to becoming Secretary of State, Hobbs was the state senator for Washington’s 44th legislative district from 2006 to 2021.

With more to be announced soon.
