SCAN Two Day Network Building: 25th March and 29th April 2022
Start: Friday, March 25, 2022•11:00 AM
Dear students and teachers,
You are invited to ‘SCAN NETWORK BUILDING - A TWO DAY WORKSHOP SERIES’. Full of activities, activism and fun!
We are the Students’ Climate Action Network (SCAN), a national network of students in Ireland formed in 2019, calling for urgent action to prevent climate breakdown and ensure a just and sustainable future.
SCAN aims to empower students to work together to achieve key demands for climate action through inclusive and participatory decision-making processes facilitated by students.
We are bringing students together for two days of activities:
Friday 25th March 11-3pm - Workshops and the global climate strike!
Friday 29th April 10-4pm – Workshops, talks and creative sessions
Both days will take place in a conference venue in Dublin City Centre. Transport to and from the event, as well as lunch, will be covered for all participants by SCAN, through a WorldWise Global Schools’ (WWGS) grant. Groups of students attending must be accompanied by a teacher(s). We are particular encouraging groups of 1st year students from the 15 school running the new Climate Action short course to join this event to share and build on their experiences of learning for climate action.
During these days you will get to meet new people and make new friends, have interesting chats in discussion circles and learn new things from workshops and activist speakers. You will also get to hear from SCAN members and their experiences of climate activism. If you are a student who wants to start their journey in climate activism and wants to make sure the world is a better place for everyone, be sure to join this event. You will get to meet people and make friends, watch fun presentations, attend amazing workshops and learn new things!
To take part you will need to;
1. Be available for both events - our goal is to build a strong network so it’s all about getting to know one another.
2. Come with a group from your school including a teacher who will be responsible for you during the event and who will liaise with SCAN volunteer teachers re. transport costs.
Teachers, if you would like to bring a group of interested students to this event, be sure to book in 25th March and 29th April asap with your school as proposed school trip dates, and express interest via email (studentsclimateactionnetwork@gmail.com) by Thurs 3rd March. Include in your email the name of your school, your (the teacher’s) name and the maximum number of students you would like to bring, and what year group they are in. We will confirm how many places we have for your group by Fri 4th March.
For teachers booking transport for their groups - contact studentsclimateactionnetwork@gmail.com as soon as possible for further details.
We are hoping to see you all there!
