Screening of "Cooked: Survival by Zip Code"

Start: Thursday, September 01, 2022 6:00 PM

End: Thursday, September 01, 2022 8:30 PM

Please join Democratize ComEd, Chicago DSA, People's Response Network, and Mi Villita Neighbors for a screening of "Cooked: Survival by Zip Code". This 2020 documentary covers the infamous 1995 heat wave in which more than 700 Chicagoans died in a single week. This episode of Chicago history ties together environmental racism, energy policy, and socioeconomic divides into a single, tragic event. We will be holding a discussion following the screening to talk about how those issues are still with us today and what we can do about them.

The event will be held in the backyard behind the MVN office. Masks will be required to enter the building. Refreshments will be provided.

Attend early for a potluck beginning at 5:00 p.m. Attendance is limited to ensure social distancing compliance.

We are in the backyard, so come around for food and for the movie! Backyard is fully accessible. The office is not accessible as it is located in the basement without an elevator.
