The Self-Directed Support (SDS) Network is made up of people and organisations who are leading work in their home country or region on self-directed support.
Following the success of the SDS England Meet Ups and Global Meet Ups in the Europe/Africa time zones, we are pleased to be able to invite you to a Global Meet Up for people based in the Americas and Asia Pacific time zones.
These meet ups are an opportunity for people to start working together to share ideas, overcome barriers and inspire each other to make self-directed support a real option for people across the world.
The Meet Ups are designed to:
- Use the Standards for SDS as a guide across the world
- Provide a space for countries to begin and consolidate their SDS path
- Share stories and experience that demonstrate success and learning
- Share resources, research and skills
- Inspire the creation of SDS networks in local regions
This is our proposed agenda:
- Welcome
- Introductions either in the chat or in the room (depending on numbers): your name, your country.
- What is the purpose of these meet ups? Open up to the room why are we here, use ideas from the above list to inspire.
- Leading to the SDS standards. What are they, what do they mean in reality?
- Most significant change story – what was it like before, what is it like after and what was the thing that made it change?
- Reflecting back on why we are here. Did we get what we want from the meeting?
- When is the next meeting
- Does anyone want to share their most significant change story?
- What should future topics be?
We look forward to connecting!
During the meeting we will be using Zoom''s simultaneous interpretation feature.
