We know lots of trans people have concerns about how their GP surgery might treat them.

LGBT Health and Wellbeing and TransActual are running this Seeking Support From Your GP Zoom workshop to make sure we all know what our rights are. Come along to find out what you’re able to ask your GP for and what you can do if you have problems at your GP surgery.

This two hour workshop is taking places on Zoom and is open to anyone who lives in Scotland or uses NHS Scotland services. If you live outside of Scotland or want to know about NHS England or NHS Wales services, keep an eye on TransActual's social media channels for more workshops about other parts of the UK.

Unfortunately we can only offer this workshop to trans people who are over 18 and who are based in the UK. You'll need to follow the TransActual Workshops Code of Conduct while you're at the workshop.

Important information

Closed captions will be turned on for this workshop. If you’ve got any other access requirements - like BSL interpretation - let us know in the form and we can arrange this for you.

In our sessions we ask everyone to:

1. Be respectful: Transphobia, homophobia, biphobia, sexism, racism, ableism and other forms of discrimination are unacceptable. Use the name and pronouns someone has shared in the workshop.

2. Respect confidentiality and privacy: Please do not take and share screenshots of the workshop. Some people might not be out to everybody (or anybody) in their life or may need to remain anonymous for safety reasons. If someone shares a personal anecdote, respect their right to confidentiality – they might want the information to stay private.

3. Be safe: These sessions will include discussion of people’s experiences, some of this may be negative, remind you of bad experiences or may trigger dysphoria for you. Be aware of how you are feeling and take time away from the workshop if you need to.

4. Help others stay safe: Keep the workshop Zoom link private. This will help keep our space safe. When you’re sharing information that might upset other people (for example, experiences of transphobia, mention of body parts), make sure you offer a content warning before speaking.

5. Be kind: Respect other people’s experiences and differences. It is ok to politely disagree with opinions but not to dispute another person’s lived experience.

6. Be considerate: Mute when you’re not speaking and make sure that everyone gets a chance to contribute if they wish.
