Target: Turn Away from Complying with ICE! Ash Wednesday Vigil & Song

Start: Wednesday, February 18, 202605:00 PM

Location: Target at The Collection 2850 N Oxnard Blvd, Oxnard, CA 93036 US

For Ash Wednesday, we are holding a public hymn sing at our local Target store to let them know that we do not support their compliance with ICE.

We’ve all been watching as ICE has brutalized immigrant communities and murdered those bearing witness in Minneapolis. Here in southern California, ICE has kidnapped many of our neighbors. In Ventura County they targeted ICE observers by ramming their vehicles, arresting them and harassing them.

We have chosen to focus on Target because organizer in Minnesota have called on us to demand that Target (whose headquarters are in Minneapolis) stop complying with ICE. We are asking that they publicly call for Immigration and Customs Enforcement to leave Minnesota. We are asking that they post signs in its stores that deny entrance to immigration agents, absent a signed judicial warrant. We are asking that they train store staff on how to respond if agents arrive. We are asking that Target publicly call for Congress to end ICE funding.

It's been a year since black faith leaders kicked off a boycott of Target on Ash Wednesday 2025. We need to keep the pressure up on Target to denounce racist behavior.

Mennonite Action calls on Mennonites and friends to take bold, public nonviolent action to stand up against ICE murders, deportations, and continued authoritarian state violence here and across the world. Following the lead of those in Minneapolis in singling out complicit corporations, People of all faiths or no faith are welcome to join us to sing out for justice.
