For too long, NYC’s energy has come at the expense of the health of our communities and our planet. Peaker plants have spewed toxic fossil fuels into our air, burning the planet, and sending asthma rates sky-high in communities like the South Bronx, Williamsburg, Sunset Park, Astoria, LIC & more.

Last year, we won a commitment to shut down all the state’s peaker plants by 2030. Now the time has come for the New York Power Authority to announce their plan to tear them down.

Join us Saturday May 3rd for a picnic at Grand Ferry Park to send the peaker plant next door into retirement!

We’ll have food, games, toasts, and more as we say farewell to its lifetime of polluting our neighborhood. Families and children of all ages are welcome!

NYPA will be announcing their plan to retire all of their peaker plants in NYC in the days after our picnic. We’re partying to make sure they know we’re watching. If they try to pull this plant out of retirement we’ll be ready to fight back.
