Join for an accessible intro to Marxism as a method for understanding and changing our world. We’ll cover materialist philosophy, surplus value and exploitation, and scientific socialism rooted in class struggle over two sessions. All readings are optional. Feel free to come whether you’re totally new or already familiar with Marxist theory.
The first session will introduce Karl Marx and the philosophical and economic aspects of Marxism: philosophical materialism and dialectics, and an intro on profit/surplus value.
The second session will continue with Marx’s critique of capitalism, explore the contradictions of the capitalist system and get into class struggle and scientific socialism.
