With the threat of far-right activists, emboldened by Trump’s return, running more candidates for local and state-level offices; and with the recent primary victory of Zohran Mamdani in NYC, we are confronted not only with the need for more socialists to contest local races, but also the promising viability of socialist messaging and potential victories.

However, lots of Maine socialists and progressives might feel ill-equipped to run or help manage actual campaigns. While many Maine DSA members and our allies have helped on the street level with door knocking and putting up signs, not as many have been a candidate or campaign manager. Fortunately, we have a panel of Maine DSA members who have been just those things, and they're making themselves available to talk through some of their experiences and your questions regarding what it's like to help manage a campaign, or even run for office yourself.
