SunDay is a global day of action on September 21st, 2025, celebrating the unstoppable rise of clean energy. We’ll come together to showcase the power of the sun and wind, the energy sources that can power our world without pollution.

Third Act member and climatologist Joanne Logan will discuss the status of plug in (aka “balcony”) solar in Tennessee at the Sept 8 meeting of Climate Nashville/Climate Reality. Plug in solar is gaining momentum across the US with recent passage of laws in Utah allowing for statewide installations of this innovative solar technology. Two Third Act TN members, one in Nashville and one in Maryville, have succeeded in installing plug in panels at their homes. In cooperation with Nashville Electric Service engineers, Third Act member Dan Terpstra has just begun a 1-month study of 4 plug-in 200-W panels at his home in Antioch, TN. Joanne has toured Dan’s installation and will describe it along with discussing the status of regulation of plug in solar in TN. The meeting will take place in the Community Building at 2131 26th Ave N. in Nashville.

Joanne is a trained climatologist who taught for 34 years at the University of Tennessee in Knoxville. She has become an avid fan of this burgeoning solar energy option. In addition to Third Act TN, she is an active member of Climate Reality and Sierra Club.
