For almost two months, Los Angeles has been under siege by federal agents. Violent, military-esque ICE raids have rocked the city. In response, DSA LA has been organizing community defense patrols, our Socialists in Office have been pushing legislation to defend the city from these raids, and we have been marching in the street to oppose this occupation — and our membership is increasingly racially diverse in ways that reflect our city.
Detroit is a city with a long history of redlining, domestic militarization, and suppression of a historically Black population, and more recent waves of immigration from Arabs and Palestinians now being scapegoated by the state. Metro Detroit DSA is organizing to build a bench of electeds behind champions for migrant and racial justice like Rep. Rashida Tlaib, and develop BIPOC cadre through every part of the chapter's work.
