Join us September 20, 9am PST/12pm ET for the first of our two-part political exchange between DSA and Mexican political party MORENA! We will hear from both MORENA and DSA speakers on the histories of both movements, as well as the political issues, debates, and the specific material contexts for organizing in both countries. The exchange will generate an open discussion between both organizations.

Topics will also include: how civic participation looks in both countries and how the average inhabitant understands their role; social perceptions of corruption; how do US inhabitants benefit directly or indirectly from imperialism; English-language media/cultural representations of each country; immigration; the role of the Mexican diaspora in the US and how MORENA engages with them; and current debates within both organizations.

This will be the first ever official exchange between both organizations and should be a very unique opportunity; with MORENA sharing similar origins as DSA (starting as a movement before a party) and rising to success against a long-standing right-wing hegemonic two-party system, we can learn a great deal from both MORENA’s successes and challenges. We hope to see you at this event!

And be sure to check out our follow up exchange on 9/27 on members-in-office, with Congresswoman Rashida Tlaib as one of our speakers!
