The full City Council also serves on the Austin Energy Utility Oversight Committee, which will discuss the Austin Energy Resource, Generation and Climate Protection Plan update. We need to show up in force to push the City Council to maintain the goal of 100% carbon-free electricity by 2035 and add to that a goal that energy sources should be pollution-free to protect our local air quality. We'll have signs and t-shirts for everyone, but feel free to bring one of your own.
If you can't attend in person but would like to speak remotely, that is an option. RSVP using this form, and we'll send you the details to sign up.
Use this messaging guidance if you need help writing your comments to the city council.
The plan:
9 a.m.: speakers get 3 minutes each to make a statement to the committee
After speakers finish: Austin Energy presentation to Council and Council discussion of AE Resource Plan
11:50 a.m.: Arrive at City Hall for Rally if you weren't able to attend for the morning
Noon: Rally/press conference outside City Hall to support clean energy (and oppose another polluting gas plant)
