Right now, there is no public transit service across the San Mateo-Hayward Bridge and tomorrow is our biggest opportunity to get that fixed. Tomorrow, the Bay Area’s regional transit planning agency, the MTC, is making its FINAL VOTE on which proposed transit improvements become eligible for federal, state and regional funding. For months, this “Transit 2050+ Connected Network Plan” included bringing back the 92 bus route to re-connect San Mateo and Alameda counties, but last week, the MTC REMOVED it from the list.

The new proposal to restore the bus called for service every 30 minutes, and for a set of transit priority and queue jump treatments that would improve reliability and speed for the service which would make it significantly better than what 92 bus service was like before the pandemic started.

We can get better bus service if MTC and San Mateo County follow Sonoma County’s leadership. The county added funding to expand transit service by cancelling plans for highway/roadway expansions that communities were opposing.
