The movement to stop the Dakota Access Pipeline is growing stronger by the day, and it’s time for all of us to rise up and play a role in this fight – no matter where we live.
On Tuesday, September 13, 2016 people all around our country will be gathering to pray in solidarity with the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe and allies against the Dakota Access Pipeline.
Since the Call to Action, on August 16, 2016 our Northern Cheyenne Tribal Council passed a resolution in support of the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe against the Dakota Access Pipeline, Northern Cheyenne Tribal Historic Preservation Office has conducted an on-site visit, numerous tribal members have traveled to the Sacred Stones Camp and there has been outpouring of support from many of our tribal members via social media. Importantly, on Sept. 8, our Northern Cheyenne Sacred Covenant Keeper, Alan Joe Blackwolf traveled to the Sacred Stone Camp where he prayed in the Council Lodge for the protection of the water and people, he continued on to Bear Butte, South Dakota to offer prayer before returning home. (We are so thankful to those who helped make this trip possible).
We invite you to join us on Tuesday evening at 4:00 pm MST at the Blackwolf residence in Lame Deer, MT to pray for the protection of the water, Standing Rock Sioux Tribe and the folks on the frontlines. If you are unable to attend in person, we encourage all supporters to participate from home, work or travel to strengthen the prayers. We also encourage you to bring offerings for out Sacred Covenant Keeper, however it’s not required to join our gathering.
Through belief in prayer and sacred way of life our people have survived battles, massacres and overwhelming odds perpetrated by those who've disregarded indigenous Tribes. Prayer keeps our homelands such as the Tongue River and Otter Creek Valley's protected from the destruction of fossil fuel development.
