After only six negotiation sessions, beginning in October 2021, the Springfield School committee have decided to pursue mediation, rather than continue our normal negotiation process. The lack of respect for the work Paraprofessionals do day in and day out is painfully apparent from the Committee’s offered wage increase which does nothing to combat our ongoing ability to recruit and retain qualified Paraprofessionals. The students of Springfield deserve Paraprofessionals in the classroom who care not only about their future but the future of our schools and community.

On Thursday, March 17th @ 6:00 PM the Springfield School Committee is hosting a public Speak Out where paras, parents, teachers, and community members are encouraged to testify. In addition to participating in this the Springfield Federation of Paraprofessionals will be rallying on March 17th at 5:00 PM outside of Springfield City Hall to deliver our petition (you can sign here) to the School Committee.
