Layoffs have devastating impacts on students and communities. Layoffs take teachers out of the classroom and remove fundamental student supports in our schools leading to larger class sizes, and instability.

Pasadena Unified must exhaust every possible option to balance its budget before laying anyone off. PUSD began the year with 23% of their budget in reserves and has seen unrestricted contracted services balloon from $10 million to $30 million.

Our union is fighting back against layoffs and protecting the rights of educators. We're organizing members and community allies to join together and demand all layoff notices be rescinded in our district.

Join United Teachers of Pasadena at the March 27 school board meeting to demand keeping our educators where our students need them most: in the classroom.
