Since the landlord lobby first tried to gut the Tenant Opportunity to Purchase Act (TOPA) earlier this summer, Stomp Out Slumlords has been canvassing at multifamily apartment buildings across the city to get mass tenant support to not just protect TOPA, to expand and strengthen it. Next Wednesday, September 25, we'll be canvassing at the Cromwell (1515 Ogden St NW) from 6:30-8:30 to sign our petition in support of TOPA. The landlord lobby will not stop aggressively attacking tenants' rights in the District, and these canvasses are an important way to mobilize renters against further attacks. Canvassing serves to inform DC renters of this attack and encourage them to take action. This canvass will include a quick training at the beginning for newer canvassers.
