Join WAC members, Regent Park and St. Jamestown constituents to call for an end to Bill C-12

Prime Minister Carney claims to be different from Trump - but his actions tell another story.

Bill C-12 gives the government unprecedented power to cancel work permits, study visas, and even permanent resident cards in bulk. It blocks refugee claims after just one year in Canada and expands the Safe Third Country Agreement, trapping people in dangerous situations with no due process. This comes alongside new information sharing powers that will put migrants at even greater risk.

Bill C-12 is a part of a broader attack on working people. Immigration levels announced in Budget 2025 slashed study permits in half (particularly targeting Indian students), cutting over 10,000 humanitarian protection spots, and keeping permanent residents spots inaccessible to low-waged migrants. At the same time, the budget announced cuts to 40,000 public sector jobs while pouring $89 billion into the military and weapons. Our communities want decent jobs and housing - NOT WAR.

Why are corporations being allowed to make so much profit over our housing and groceries? Bill C-12, and these immigration cuts are part of a broader agenda to blame migrants for the affordability crisis instead of ensuring we have a good quality healthcare system with controls on rent and food prices.

Join us on November 20 to demand:

  • Stop Bill C-12 and Bill C-2
  • Equal rights and permanent status for all migrants
  • End the scapegoating - fund public services, not deportations
