Join us on Friday, May 22nd at 3:45pm outside the Chase Bank on Broad St. where we will have a physically distanced Mic Check outside the bank. Each person attending will have an opportunity to take the mic and share their story and their perspective about Chase Bank, the fossil fuel industry, and the systems of injustice they are both fueling right now. Bring your songs, signs, logos, speeches; let's show our solidarity.

JP Morgan Chase is the number one banker of the fossil fuel industry worldwide. This is an industry that is accelerating the climate crisis and perpetuating global environmental injustice. We can no longer afford a polluting economy, and as the number one banker of the fossil fuel industry, JP Morgan Chase is a central component of such an economy.

This industry allows the continued expansion of petro-chemical and plastics plants, contributing to the kind of toxic emissions that we know disproportionately impact black and brown communities, communities such as our neighbors in St. John the Baptist and St. James  parishes right outside New Orleans. It is an industry whose toxic emissions are accelerating the spread and deadliness of the COVID-19 virus. St. John the Baptist Parish currently has the third-highest COVID-19 mortality rate in the entire country. We cannot continue to look away from these injustices, we need to call them out for what they are, and join the community leaders in Rise St. James and Concerned Citizens of St. John in demanding that they stop.

Enough is enough. We are demanding that JP Morgan Chase, and Jamie Dimon its CEO, divest all of their investments in fossil fuels. There is no more time for excuses, lives have already been lost and will continue to be as long as this industry continues to operate as it does.
