The 2014-2015 school year is well underway, and with it comes the promise of a new beginning for school children all across the country.

This year also marks the beginning of a new era of high-stakes standardized testing.  In New Jersey, public school children in grades 3-11 will take Common Core-aligned PARCC tests that "allow parents and educators to see how children are progressing in school and whether they are on track for post-secondary success."

We'd like to invite you to come see for yourself.

TAKE THE PARCC TEST with the DELRAN EDUCATION ASSOCIATION

When:  Wednesday December 3, 2014 from 7:00 - 9:00 PM

Where:  The Enterprise Center at Burlington County College in Mount Laurel.

Registration:  Free online registration opens October 1, 2014

Requirements:  A wifi-enabled tablet or laptop

The agenda for the evening will provide time for our guests -  parents, educators, board of education members, legislators, and taxpayers - to experience the online PARCC assessments for themselves. Using your wifi-enabled tablet or laptop, you will have the opportunity to answer sample PARCC questions, and then we'll ask you to engage in a discussion about your testing experience.  We will close the evening with a discussion about the role that high-stakes standardized testing should play in our students' academic lives.

We are asking all guests to register online, as space and technology are both limited. We are also recommending that guests bring their own wifi-enabled tablet or laptop to the event.  We will have a limited number of extra devices available, but we will need you to request to borrow a device when you register.  (As of November 3, the extra devices are all accounted for - any new registrants MUST bring their own devices)  Every seat in the auditorium has a power station, so you can either fully charge your device ahead of time, or bring your power cord with you.

We hope you will join us for this very important event, and please feel free to share this link with friends, colleagues, and family members!
