The Takoma Park City Council has commissioned a "study" of the city's rent stabilization policy, which is one of the strongest rent stabilization policies in the country. MoCo DSA and allies have been organizing to protect the law, which keeps rents in Takoma Park more affordable than the rest of Montgomery County.
On October 12th, the City of Takoma Park will hold a community meeting about the review of the City's rent stabilization policy. This meeting will begin with a brief progress update from City staff and the consulting firm, followed by an overview of potential policy updates currently under consideration. Following the presentation, participants will transition into small breakout groups to share focused feedback, address specific priorities, and help shape the next steps of the policy review.
MoCo DSA encourages Takoma Park tenants and others interested in the rent stabilization policy review and keeping the rent stabilization strong to attend and participate in the community meeting.
This meeting has a virtual attendance option; register to attend virtually using this link.
For in-person attendance, the event will take place at the Takoma Park Community Center Auditorium (7500 Maple Ave, Takoma Park, MD 20912).
