Join Your Community This Saturday at 11 AM! Demand Justice: End NRPF and the Two-Child Benefit Cap Now!
Child poverty is hitting your community hard. Families are struggling to afford food, housing, and basic essentials, while policies like No Recourse to Public Funds (NRPF) and the Two-Child Benefit Cap are making things worse for the kids in your community who deserve better.
Your fellow community members can’t stay silent.
This Saturday, October 5th at 11 AM, we’re coming together to demand action and end these harmful policies. Will you be there?
The Message:
We're asking Mayor Kim McGuinness and Newcastle City Council to:
- Abolish NRPF, which denies families essential support they need to survive.
- End the Two-Child Benefit Cap, so every child, no matter their family size, gets the support they deserve.
- Push central government to make these changes immediately.
- Sit down with Food & Solidarity to talk real solutions for the people impacted.
These policies punish children. It’s unjust, and your community won’t stand for it.
Why You Should Join:
We’re holding this Friday action to call on our local leaders to take a stand for families and children in need in your community. Your voice is needed. Every child deserves the opportunity to grow up safe, healthy, and supported.
Your Support Matters:
A photo petition will show the strength of our community. BUT the goal hasn't been reached yet, and your photo is needed to make our movement impossible to ignore. Bring yourself, your friends, and your family—let’s show up and demand change.
What are NRPF and the Two-Child Benefit Cap?
- NRPF: Some families are blocked from accessing vital government support because of their immigration status, leaving them without enough for food, housing, or basic needs.
- The Two-Child Benefit Cap: Families with more than two children are denied extra financial support, making it harder to provide for their kids.
