#TeslaTakedown sent this open letter to the organizers of Electrify Expo a week ago and have received no response.

Electrify Expo continues to list Tesla as a featured exhibitor and advertise demos of the new Tesla Model Y refresh and the Cybertruck to its customers, despite the widespread rejection of the Tesla brand by the EV community due to Elon Musk's very public embrace of far-right politics.

We appreciate the expo's mission of promoting electric vehicles as part of the fight against climate change, but continuing to promote any company that makes EVs without any consideration of wider politics is irresponsible and absurd, especially here in Southern California where the sitting President has effectively declared war on our state and we're watching friends and neighbors be disappeared by secret police.

Even if you literally care about nothing but electric mobility, continuing to support any of Elon Musk's companies is hugely hypocritical and self-defeating for the EV community considering how Musk has bragged about helping elect a President who has erasing the EV tax credit and undermining EV adoption as one of his signature policies, and who is clearly happy to throw his automotive business under the bus to pivot to his newer interests like space and AI.

We've been protesting at Tesla showrooms, service centers and superchargers for weeks, but the Electrify Expo and similar events do far more to generate marketing hype for Tesla and pump their stock than any individual Tesla location does, and we need to let the event organizers know that we do not accept their complicity and that the EV community as a whole fully rejects Elon Musk and the Tesla brand.

I plan to personally try to maintain a presence in front of the expo hall both days, from 10 am to 5 pm, but for those who can only commit a certain amount of time, the most important time to have a presence is probably from 12 pm to 2:00 pm around noon.

Remember, EVs are not the enemy -- I am an EV enthusiast myself and so are most #TeslaTakedown activists I've spoken to -- but if EVs are going to be the future then they cannot be tied to unsafe attempts to circumvent safety regulations, union-busting and abuse of employees, or the personal adventurism of narcissistic billionaires -- and I for one am sick of Tesla telling me that to accept EVs I have to accept all these things.
