Protest the DOGE War on Mothers
As millions of families around the country prepare to celebrate Mother's Day, Tesla Takedown will shine a spotlight on DOGE’s war on mothers and children. Since February, Elon Musk and his so-called Department of Government Efficiency have slashed billions in funding for pregnant and nursing mothers and their children.
On February 3rd, Musk boasted that he’d fed “USAID into the wood chipper.” He slashed grants to maternal and child health programs, the majority in African countries.
The real effects of program cuts are still playing out. Women and children around the world are paying in blood for his cruelty. According to the Impact Metric Dashboard, USAID funding discontinuation is contributing to an average of 103 deaths per hour, and children make up more than half of the death toll.
Musk then turned his wrath on U.S. women and children. DOGE illegally canceled an estimated $10 billion in grants from the Department of Health and Human Services. Many of the grants were for programs supporting mothers: Home visits helping pregnant and postpartum women with blood pressure spikes, domestic violence shelters for pregnant women, deliveries of food and formula to new mothers and their babies.
The U.S. has the highest rates of maternal mortality among wealthy countries, and DOGE’s attacks on medical research and critical programs will result in injury and even death for thousands more mothers and their children.
Protesters at Tesla Takedown events in the DMV demand immediate restoration of taxpayer-funded, Congressionally allocated grants that keep mothers and children fed, sheltered, and cared for.
