The John Lewis Good Trouble Lives On National Day of Action

Start: Thursday, July 17, 202505:30 PM

End: Thursday, July 17, 202507:30 PM

“Get in good trouble, necessary trouble, and help redeem the soul of America.” – Congressman John Lewis.

Our freedoms are under attack. Our democracy is at risk.

White supremacist, authoritarian, and anti-democracy forces are working to strip away voting rights, dismantle the social safety net, and silence our communities. We’ve been here before—and we know how to respond. We know how to make Good Trouble.

We honor the legacy of civil rights icon John Lewis not with ceremony, but with action. Across the country, people will take to the streets to demand justice, voting rights, a multiracial democracy, and dignity for all.

In addition to uplifting the lives of Black and Brown, and the poor, we will have a key focus on the dignity of our Trans community and access to the care they have a right to. As right-wing attacks escalate against trans youth and access to gender-affirming care, we must show up and speak out. Trans rights are human rights, and they are essential to the broader struggle for justice and equity.

This is more than a protest—it’s a moral reckoning. A fight against voter suppression, racial division, and devastating cuts to Medicare, Medicaid, and other vital programs. It’s a continuation of John Lewis’ legacy—and a new front in the freedom struggle.

John Lewis Day is a project hosted by Transformative Justice Coalition, Black Voters Matter, Indivisible, Declaration For American Democracy and Public Citizen
